What is BREEAM?

BREEAM (BRE Environmental Assessment Method) is a system for rating and certifying buildings, originally developed in the UK and now used in many other countries. The process involves an initial site visit, collection of background information and onsite inspections at key phases of construction.

What is the rating category for BREEAM?

A project completes a questionnaire developed with key stakeholders and can achieve one of three grades: Pass Plus, Pass or Fail. A Pass shows good environmental performance, while Pass Plus requires at least one area of extra sustainability development.

How long does BREEAM certification last?

BREEAM certification is valid for one year and must be renewed to remain on the register, usually involving an application fee, inspection fee and consultation hour.
